Biogas Plant at Whitchurch

This new biogas plant on the outskirts of Whitchurch in Shropshire presented a challenge in that the new plant contained several large anaerobic digester tanks and chrome gas flues, which were highly visible, particularly from the nearby main road.

Our solution was to design a new planting scheme in an adjacent field outside of the site which was agreed with the local landowner. Then we planted large nursery stock directly in a line between the road and the site to help screen the flues from this sensitive viewpoint.

An Accurate Visual Representation (AVR) was requested by the planners to show how two new proposed storage tanks would appear from the roadside. As a result of our model study and photomontage this variation was approved, and the plant is now fully operational.

Crofthead Biogas Plant

For this new biogas plant in Dumfriesshire, Green Tyger Design have prepared the planting plan to screen the large new biodigeser dome structures within this attractive rolling upland landscape.

During the planning application a variation for the height of the biodigester domes was investigated using ZTV Analysis to show the difference in the visual impact within the surrounding areas. Satisfied the there would be minimal visual impacts, planning permission was granted in 2019.
